Yonhap</p></div></div><p class="editor-p"><span>South Korea’s auto exports rose 5.8 percent in June from a year earlier, reaching a record high driven by strong sales of electric and hybrid vehicles.</span></p><p class="editor-p">The total value of automobile exports reached $6.79 billion in June, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, marking a new record for any June.</p><p class="editor-p">Outbound shipments to North America, Latin America and the European Union increased by 12.3 percent, 5.1 percent and 13.7 percent, respectively.</p><p class="editor-p">Exports of eco-friendly vehicles continued to grow, rising 31.3 percent year-on-year to $2.9 billion.</p><p class="editor-p">Domestically, 159,725 vehicles were sold in June, up 9.5 percent. Local production rose 11.6 percent to 394,210 units, with production by major manufacturers up as well, though Renault Korea Motors declined by 29.6 percent.</p><p class="editor-p">Production at Hyundai Motor and Kia increased by 10.9 percent and 16.2 percent, respectively. GM Korea and KG Mobility reported gains of 3.4 percent and 21.2 percent, while Renault Korea Motors saw a decline.</p><p class="editor-p">The industry ministry noted that the sector faces uncertainties, including labor-management relations, competition from Chinese automakers, and AI-driven shifts in manufacturing. It said authorities will monitor export and production trends and support the industry’s stable growth and transition to future mobility.</p>

수출 총액은 지난해 같은 기간 대비 증가했으며, 품목별로는 북미, 라틴아메리카, 유럽연합으로의 수출이 각각 12.3%, 5.1%, 13.7% 증가했다.
환경 친화적 자동차의 수출은 여전히 견조한 성장세를 이어가 21년 대비 31.3% 늘어나 29억 달러를 기록했다.
국내 판매는 15만9725대로 전년 대비 9.5% 증가했다. 국내에서 생산된 차량 판매는 3% 증가한 12만22대였고, 수입차 판매는 35.6% 증가한 3만9496대였다.
또한 국내 자동차 생산은 전년 대비 11.6% 증가한 394만210대에 이르렀다. 현대차와 기아의 생산은 각각 10.9%, 16.2% 증가했다. GM 코리아(제너럴 모터스의 한국 지사)와 KG 모빌리티의 생산도 각각 3.4%, 21.2% 증가했다. 반면 르노 코리아 모터스의 생산은 29.6% 감소했다.
산업통상자원부는 한국 자동차 산업이 노사 관계, 중국 자동차 제조사들의 글로벌 판매 확대, 인공지능(AI)에 의한 제조 부문 변화 등 다양한 불확실성에 직면할 것으로 내다봤다. 산업부는 “산업계와 긴밀히 소통해 수출과 생산 동향을 모니터링하고, 미래 모빌리티로의 전환을 포함한 자동차 산업의 안정적 성장에 필요한 지원을 적극적으로 모색하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
