<p>조지 루카스가 50년 전 창조한 프랜차이즈의 핵심 DNA를 유지하기 위해 파브루는 영화의 공동 작가이자 크리에이티브 파트너인 데이브 필로니와 긴밀히 협력해 시대를 초월한 서사와 최첨단 시각 효과를 결합했다.</p>
<p>그는 영화의 핵심은 디니 자린이 차갑던 현상금 사냥꾼에서 보호자로서의 아버지 같은 인물로 성장하는 정서적 진전에 있다고 덧붙였다.</p>
<p>“그는 양심이 없어 보이던 인물이었고, 현상금 사냥꾼이었지만 아이와의 관계를 통해 선을 지키고 부모가 되어가려는 쪽으로 변화한다,” 감독은 말했다. “그의 마음이 이 관계를 통해 열렸고, 바로 그 캐릭터의 진전이 이야기의 중심이라고 생각한다.”</p>

<p>영화는 육상, 해상, 공중에서 벌어지는 강렬한 액션 시퀀스로 대형 스케일의 스펙타클을 제공한다. 파브루는 주연 배우 파스칼이 등장하는 수중 신이 가장 촬영하기 어려웠다고 밝혔다.</p>
<p>“파스칼의 얼굴이 보이도록 선택했기 때문에 더블을 쓸 수 없었다,” 파브루는 말했다. “여기서는 물속에서 파스칼이 있어야 했고, 카메라로 물 위·아래를 오가며 거대한 몬스터와 상호 작용해야 했다. 아주 느린 작업이었지만 결과에 매우 만족한다.”</p>
<p>최근 4월 5일이 스타워즈 데이, 5월 5일이 어린이의 날이었다는 서울의 축하를 반영하며, 새 영화가 이전작들이 각 세대에 맞춰 관객을 하나로 묶었던 것처럼 모든 연령의 관객을 하나로 모을 수 있기를 바란다고 파브루는 말했다.</p>
