<p>HD Hyundai Electric has cleared a final regulatory hurdle to export its eco-friendly SF6-free circuit breakers to Sweden, reinforcing its presence in a European market with strict environmental standards.</p>
<p>The company completed testing of its 145 kilovolt SF6-free circuit breaker last Thursday in the presence of a Swedish client, noting that SF6 has a global warming potential vastly higher than carbon dioxide.</p>
<p>EU regulations on fluorinated greenhouse gases tighten controls on artificial gases, and the bloc plans to ban SF6 in 145kV or higher circuit breakers starting in 2032. The company says these rules are likely to raise demand for zero-SF6 high-voltage breakers.</p>
<p>Following the final test, the SF6-free circuit breaker will be supplied to a Swedish substation operated by a utility company.</p>
<p>HD Hyundai Electric notes that developing SF6-free high-voltage breakers is technically challenging due to the need to match insulation and breaking performance with conventional SF6-based products, but it is expanding its SF6-free portfolio to meet EU market regulations.</p>
<p>The company has already developed 72.5kV, 145kV and 170kV SF6-free products and aims to complete its full SF6-free lineup by 2028, with a 420kV model targeted for completion by year-end to meet strong European demand.</p>
<p>A company official highlighted the SF6-free breaker’s high technical barriers and called the 145kV model’s successful test a demonstration of technological competitiveness, noting anticipated increases in orders and revenue from ongoing European client discussions.</p>
<p>HD Hyundai Electric recently secured a contract to supply 145kV SF6-free breakers to a Finnish utility, with installations planned at a western Finland substation and delivery expected by July next year.</p>

최종 테스트를 마친 이 회사의 SF6-free 차단기는 스웨덴 유틸리티가 운영하는 변전에 공급될 예정이다.
SF6-free 고전압 차단기의 개발은 단일성으로는 절연 및 차단 성능을 기존의 SF6 기반 제품과 동등하게 달성하기 위해 상당한 기술 전문성이 필요하기에 어렵다고 회사 측은 설명했다.
한국 기업은 EU의 시장 규제에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 SF6-free 고전압 차단기 포트폴리오 확장에 주력하고 있다.
현재 72.5kV, 145kV, 170kV 제품을 개발했으며 2028년까지 SF6-free 고전압 차단기의 전체 라인업을 완성할 계획이다. 또한 유럽 시장에서 가장 큰 수요를 보이는 420kV 차단기 개발을 올해 말까지 마무리하는 것도 목표로 하고 있다.
기업 관계자는 “SF6-free 고전압 차단기는 기술적 난도가 높은 제품이며, 145kV 모델의 성공적인 최종 시험은 HD 현대일렉트릭의 기술 경쟁력을 입증하는 중요한 성과다”라고 말했다.
또한 “420kV 제품의 개발을 올해 마무리하고 현재 유럽 고객과의 장기 공급 논의가 진행 중이며, 향후 주문 및 매출이 안정적으로 증가할 것으로 예상한다”고 덧붙였다.
HD 현대일렉트릭은 최근 핀란드의 한 공기업에 145kV SF6-free 고전압 차단기를 공급하는 계약을 체결했다. 이 차단기는 핀란드 서부의 변전에 설치될 예정이며 내년 7월까지 인도될 예정이다.
