Courtesy of KRX</p></div></div><p class="editor-p">A former Samsung Electronics researcher has steered MakinaRocks to the Kosdaq, marking its debut on the exchange’s tech-focused market. </p><p class="editor-p">Co-founded in 2017 by Yoon Seong-ho, also known as Andre S. Yoon, the company began trading on the Kosdaq and surged fourfold from its IPO price on its first day.</p><p class="editor-p">Yoon earned a PhD in physics from MIT, previously worked as a semiconductor researcher at Samsung and as a machine learning manager at SK Telecom before founding MakinaRocks.</p><p class="editor-p">MakinaRocks offers physical AI solutions through Runway, an enterprise AI operating system tailored for industrial settings, earning it the nickname “Korean Palantir Technologies.”</p><p class="editor-p">At launch, the company targeted AI solutions for physical industrial environments, including manufacturing equipment, robotics and defense systems.</p><p class="editor-p">Since then, Yoon has led AI adoption across sectors such as semiconductors, batteries, heavy machinery, automotive and energy. His efforts to broaden a vertical AI ecosystem via the company’s in-house platform contributed to his January appointment as a regular member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea.</p><p class="editor-p">Yoon also serves on the Presidential Council on National AI Strategy, contributing to national AI policy development.</p><p class="editor-p">MakinaRocks attracted strong market interest before listing, with a retail subscription ratio of 2,807.8 to 1 and about 13.87 trillion won in investor deposits for the public offering. Institutional demand forecasts showed a 1,196.1 to 1 competition ratio, and full employee stock ownership plan subscriptions complemented broad investor confidence.</p><p class="editor-p">Data from the Korea Exchange indicated MakinaRocks closed at 60,000 won on its debut day, up fourfold from the IPO price of 15,000 won.</p><p class="editor-p">Yoon stated that there are significant opportunities to deploy AI in operating industrial machinery and that the company aims to leverage its operating system to deliver high-performance, field-optimized AI and become a global standard platform.</p><p class="editor-p">Japan is identified as a strategic base for overseas expansion, with a Japanese subsidiary already established and four contracts secured with local firms. The company intends to expand further into Europe and the Middle East through partnerships, starting from Japan.</p>

<p>2017년 윤승호(Andre S. Yoon) 공동 창업자가 설립한 이 회사는 기술 중심의 코스닥 상장 첫날 공모가 대비 주가가 네 배 상승하며 거래를 시작했다.</p>
<p>윤승호는 매사추세츠공과대학에서 물리학 박사 학위를 받았고, 이후 삼성전자에서 반도체 연구원으로 근무했고 SK텔레콥에서 머신러닝 매니저를 역임한 뒤 맥이나록스를 설립했다.</p>
<p>맥이나록스는 공장 현장에서 작동하는 시스템을 겨냥한 엔터프라이즈 AI 운영체제인 ‘런웨이(Runway)’를 기반으로 한 물리AI 솔루션을 제공하며, 회사에 ‘한국의 팔란티어 기술(Korean Palantir Technologies)’이라는 별칭을 부여받았다.</p>
<p>회사를 시작할 때 윤은 제조장비, 로봇 공학 및 방위 시스템 등 물리적 산업 환경에 최적화된 AI 솔루션에 집중했다.</p>
<p>그는 반도체, 배터리, 중장비, 자동차 및 에너지 등 다양한 산업에 걸쳐 AI 채택과 운용을 주도해 왔으며, 자사 내 AI 플랫폼을 통한 수직 AI 생태계 확장 노력을 통해 한국 engineer의 최고 영예 중 하나인 2026년 한국공학한림원 정회원으로 선임되었다.</p>
<p>또한 윤은 대통령 직속 국가 AI 전략 자문위원회의 민간 위원으로서 국내 AI 정책 형성에도 참여하고 있다.</p>
<p>맥이나록스는 이미 상장 전부터 시장의 주목을 받았으며, 5월 11-12일 일반청약에서 소매 투자자 경쟁률이 2,807.8대 1에 달했고, 예치금은 약 13조 8,700억 원에 이르렀다.</p>
<p>회사는 기관 수요 예측에서도 1,196.1대 1의 경쟁률을 기록했고, 직원 주식소유권의 전액 청약과 함께 기관 투자자, 일반 투자자 및 직원들 모두의 폭넓은 신뢰가 확인됐다.</p>
<p>한국거래소의 데이터에 따르면 맥이나록스는 상장 첫날 종가가 60,000원으로 형성되었으며, 이는 IPO 가격인 15,000원의 네 배에 해당한다.</p>
<p>윤은 “현장 환경에서 이미 작동 중인 기계 및 설비에 AI를 적용하는 데 큰 기회가 있다고 본다. 운영 체제를 활용해 현장 운영에 최적화된 고성능 AI를 제공하고 글로벌 표준 플랫폼으로 자리매김할 계획이다.”라고 말했다.</p>
<p>일본은 제조 부문에 대한 강한 수요로 인해 해외 확장을 위한 전략적 거점으로 평가되고 있다. 회사는 이미 일본 자회사를 설립했고 현지 기업 네 곳과 계약을 체결했다.</p>
<p>그는 “일본을 시작점으로 삼아 유럽과 중동 등 글로벌 시장으로의 확장을 가속화하고 전략적 파트너십을 통해 장기적 성장 기반을 강화하겠다.”고 밝혔다.</p>
