A slow start to their Korean baseball title defense is now a distant memory for the LG Twins, who have won seven consecutive games to surge to the top of the standings.
The Twins, after starting 0-3, have gone 9-1 during their streak and own the league's lowest ERA at 2.57 while scoring the second-most runs with 42. They are tied for first place with the KT Wiz at 9-4-0.
The club will host the Lotte Giants for three games starting Tuesday at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, with the Giants fresh off snapping a seven-game slide and ending a mini three-game win streak with a 2-0 defeat to Kiwoom Heroes.
Following that series, the Twins travel to Daegu for three games against the Samsung Lions, who sit in third place at 8-4-1.
In other scheduling notes, KT Wiz will play the NC Dinos in Changwon and the Heroes in Suwon; the SSG Landers have slipped to fourth at 7-6-0 after a five-game losing streak, and are set to face the Doosan Bears and then the Dinos.
Other teams to watch include the Kia Tigers, who enter the week on a four-game winning streak with games against the Heroes and the Bears upcoming, and the Hanwha Eagles, who host the Lions and visit the Giants after being swept by the Tigers. The Eagles continue to attract sellout crowds at their home ballpark despite a 2-6-0 record at home.
