The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N has been named the World Performance Car of 2026 at the World Car Awards, a recognition among major global automotive honors.
The award was decided after competition with several high-profile models, including contenders such as the BMW M2 CS and the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.
Over five years, the World Performance Car category has seen strong representation from Hyundai Motor Group, with Hyundai Motor and Kia securing three of the five titles. The IONIQ 5 N won in 2024, following Kia’s EV6 GT in 2023, with Porsche’s 911 Carrera GTS and Audi’s e-tron GT also having previously claimed honors.
The awarding body cited the group’s electric platform, E-GMP, shared across the IONIQ series and the EV6, and credited the achievement to the combination of motorsports expertise and extensive vehicle data.
Hyundai Motor’s CEO emphasized the significance of the award for the team behind the vehicle, noting that customers value design, technology, and real-world value offered by the IONIQ 6 N.
A jury member highlighted the car’s driving enjoyment, precision, and road-handling feel, stating that the IONIQ 6 N delivers a true sports-car experience on demanding roads, even if it is not the most expensive or powerful model on paper.
The IONIQ 6 N aims to combine strong performance, high-speed stability, and everyday comfort, delivering up to 609 horsepower (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque with enhanced output via the N Grin Boost function. It features advanced electrification technologies, including the N e-shift virtual gear system, N Active Sound Plus, and N Drift Optimizer to enhance driving enjoyment.

N Grin Boost 기능을 활성화하면 출력은 478kW(또는 646마력)으로 증가하고 토크는 770Nm까지 올라간다. N e-shift 더블 기어 시스템, 주행 사운드를 최적화하는 N Active Sound Plus, 이즈롱 주행을 돕는 N Drift Optimizer 등 고급 전동화 기술이 도입돼 운전의 재미를 높인다.
