Singer and musical actress Ock Joo-hyun has attracted attention after purchasing a luxury residence in Seoul’s Hannam-dong neighborhood, with the transaction prompting online discussion due to its price.
The unit, bought for 19 billion won (about $14 million) in Hannam The Hill, represents the highest recorded transaction in the complex’s history, located in Yongsan District and spanning roughly 332 square meters with a duplex layout across two floors. The purchase was reportedly made from an executive of SPC Group.
Contract signing occurred in May of the previous year, with the final payment completed recently. The deal included a mortgage arrangement with a maximum bond amount of 12.3 billion won.
The sale has drawn attention for its substantial profit, as the previous owner acquired the unit in 2015 for 6.9 billion won, realizing a gain of about 12.1 billion won over roughly a decade, underscoring rising luxury real estate prices in Seoul.
Hannam The Hill, developed in 2011 on the former site of Dankook University, is recognized as one of Korea’s most exclusive residential complexes, housing notable residents such as prominent figures in entertainment and business.
Earlier, actress Kim Tae-hee sold a unit in the same complex for 12.7 billion won after seven years of ownership, a transaction also noted for significant profit.
Legal representation for Ock stated that all taxes and administrative procedures related to the purchase were handled lawfully and transparently, adding that the acquisition is meaningful as her first home after years in the entertainment industry and asking for understanding without unfounded speculation.

해당 부동산은 용산구에 위치하며 면적은 약 332제곱미터로 1층과 2층에 걸친 드루플렉스 구성이 특징이다. 거래처는 SPC그룹의 임원인 허희수로 알려졌다.
옥주현은 지난해 5월 계약을 체결했고 최근 최종 납부를 마친 것으로 알려졌다. 거래의 일부로 최대 123억원의 담보 대출이 설정됐다.
해당 매매가로 인해 이익 규모도 주목받고 있다. 이전 소유주는 2015년에 이 유닛을 69억원에 구입했고 약 10년 만에 약 121억원의 차익을 실현했다는데, 이는 서울의 고가 주택 가격 상승을 보여주는 사례로 꼽힌다.
한남더힐은 2011년 다낭대학 이전 부지에 지어진 세계적으로도 알려진 고급 주거 단지로, 방탄소년단의 RM과 지민, 배우 소지섭, LG그룹 구광모 회장 등 다수의 고위 인사들이 거주하는 곳으로 알려져 있다.
지난해에도 배우 김태희가 같은 단지의 유닛을 127억원에 매각해 7년간의 보유 기간 동안 상당한 이익을 남겼다는 소식이 있었다.
옥주현 측 법률 대리인은 매매와 관련한 모든 세무 및 행정 절차가 합법적이고 투명하게 처리됐다고 밝히며, 추측에 따른 오해가 없기를 바란다고 말했다.
대리인은 이 주택이 여러 해에 걸친 연예 활동을 마친 뒤 얻은 첫 집으로 특별한 의미를 갖는다고 덧붙였으며, 오해나 과도한 추측 없이 따뜻하게 이해해 주길 바란다고 밝혔다.
옥주현은 1998년 핀클의 멤버로 데뷔한 뒤 뮤지컬로 전향해 ‘아이아다’, ‘시카고’, ‘엘리자베스’, ‘위키드’, ‘레베카’ 등 작품에서 활약했고 최근에는 뮤지컬 ‘안나 카레니나’에 출연해 지난 3월 공연을 마쳤다.
