The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) launched a platform to help United States Forces Korea (USFK) veterans secure jobs with Korean firms operating in the United States. The initiative was announced through a memorandum of understanding with the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation (KUSAF) at KCCI’s Seoul headquarters.
Under the agreement, KCCI will operate and promote the platform (www.USFKJobs.com), while KUSAF will provide information to service members and encourage their participation. Participating companies will manage job postings and conduct hiring procedures for USFK veterans who apply through the platform.
A total of 21 companies have joined, including major players across industries such as advanced manufacturing, energy, shipbuilding, robotics, biotechnology and food. Participating firms include Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, SK On, SK Biopharmaceuticals, Hyundai Motor, Kia, LG Energy Solution, POSCO Holdings, Hanwha Ocean, HD Hyundai Electric, GS E&C, Emart, LS Group and Doosan Bobcat.
The platform aims to create opportunities for Korean businesses in the U.S. as local workforce needs grow amid changes in visa and labor market policies. It is also positioned to help Korean companies hire workers who understand Korean society and culture, leveraging veterans’ backgrounds.
Officials said that federal and state incentives for hiring veterans could yield benefits in talent acquisition and management efficiency, supporting stronger Korea-U.S. collaboration as Korean investments in the United States expand. The initiative is expected to evolve into a model of mutual benefit for the two countries.
한국 상공회의소(KCCI)는 월요일 미합중국 주둔군 한국인(USFK) 베테랑들이 미국 내 한국 기업에서 일자리를 찾는 데 도움을 주는 플랫폼을 출범했다. KCCI와 한미동맹재단(KUSAF)은 서울 중구 KCCI 본사에서 양해각서를 체결하고, 미국에서 활동하는 한국 기업과 전 USFK 복무원을 플랫폼(www.USFKJobs.com)을 통해 매칭하는 데 협력하겠다고 밝혔다. 행사에는 KCCI 이사장 대행 박일준 부회장, KUSAF 회장 임호영, 주 서울 미국 대사관 중동 업무대리 James Heller, 주한미상공회의소 회장 제임스 킴, 서울상공회의소 부의장 이형희 등 주요 임원들이 참석했다. 플랫폼에는 삼성전자, SK하이닉스, SK온, SK바이오팜, 현대자동차, 기아, LG에너지솔루션, 포스코홀딩스, 한화오션, HD현대전력, GS건설, 이마트, LS그룹, 두산밥캣 등 21개사가 참여하고 있으며, 첨단제조, 에너지, 조선, 로봇공학, 바이오테크, 식품 등 다양한 산업 분야의 기업들이 포함돼 있다. 협정에 따라 KCCI는 플랫폼의 운영 및 홍보를 담당하고, KUSAF는 서비스 대상과 참여 독려에 필요한 정보를 제공한다. 기업은 플랫폼에 채용 공고를 등록·관리하고, 이를 통해 지원하는 USFK 복무자에 대한 채용 절차를 진행한다. 본 플랫폼은 미국 내 현지 인력이 중요해지는 변화를 배경으로, 미국 내 한국 기업의 새 기회를 창출할 것으로 기대된다. 한국 기업의 현지 채용 인력 확보와 함께 현지 문화에 정통한 인재를 확보하는 채널로도 기능할 전망이다. 미국 연방 및 주 정부가 베테랑 채용 기업에 다양한 인센티브를 제공하는 점도 강조되며, 전역 군인 채용이 인재 확보는 물론 경영 효율성 개선에도 긍정적 영향을 줄 것으로 KCCI는 설명했다. 박 부회장은 “한국 기업이 미국에서 일자리를 창출하는 적극적 투자를 통해, 전 USFK 서비스 멤버들이 이러한 기회를 공유해 양국 간 협력을 강화할 것”이라며, “플랫폼을 지속적으로 업그레이드하고 기업 참여를 확대해 한국-미국 협력의 대표적 윈-윈 모델로 성장시킬 것”이라고 말했다.
