The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea is hosting G’day R.O.K, a flagship event featuring networking, food, drinks, live music and giveaways, on Friday, March 27, at the Grand Hyatt Seoul.
The event will include an invitation-only ceremony presenting the Australia-Korea Business Awards (AKBA), recognizing outstanding contributions to the Australia-Korea business relationship across various sectors.
The AKBA awards are returning after a hiatus since 2020, now paired with G’day R.O.K to refresh the format and branding, and to showcase the breadth of the bilateral relationship in one evening.
The awards highlight excellence in Australia-Korea business, while the G’day R.O.K component aims to broaden engagement with the wider community through food, culture, and connection.
The evening’s program runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with a stand-up buffet featuring premium Australian foods and a drinks selection including Australian wine, beer, gin and nonalcoholic options.
A highlight performance will be by Australian-Korean singer-songwriter Olivia Marsh, who debuted as a solo artist in 2024 under a major label. Organizers say her bicultural background and contemporary sound align with the event’s theme of celebrating modern Australia in Seoul.
Throughout the night, attendees will have access to a range of Australian foods, including beef, lamb and seafood, alongside beverages. Organizers emphasize the focus on fresh, high-quality Australian produce.
There is commentary on the absence of certain iconic Australian dishes associated with Toowoomba, noting that the Toowoomba pasta story has become a cultural curiosity with no clear origin in Australia, but it is not representative of mainstream Australian cuisine.
Organizers note that the AKBA and G’day R.O.K combine to reflect the modern Australia-Korea relationship and offer broader cultural engagement beyond business ties.
Rowan Petz, the chamber’s CEO, plans to step down after the event, describing it as a meaningful way to conclude his tenure in Korea and highlighting the deepening Australia-Korea ties during his tenure.
Tickets for G’day R.O.K are priced at 210,000 won, with discounted rates of 190,000 won for AustCham and ANZA Korea members. Group packages are available. Further information is available on the chamber’s website.

저녁 내내 프리미엄 호주 식품이 제공되는 스탠드-업 부페가 열리며, 소고기, 양고기, 해산물과 함께 호주 와인, 맥주, 진 및 무알코올 음료를 포함한 주류가 선보입니다.
“호주는 넓은 대지와 맑고 푸른 환경, 고품질로 유명하며 이러한 장점은 음식과 음료에서도 뚜렷하게 나타난다”라고 Petz가 말했습니다. “한국에 있는 사람들이 신선하고 신뢰할 수 있으며 세계적 수준의 재료가 자체적으로 말하는 음식을 경험하기를 바란다.”
이 행사에서 “Toowoomba” 요리가 빠진 점은 참석자들에게 놀라움일 수도, 아닐 수도 있습니다. 크림 소스는 파스타나 해산물과 함께 자주 등장하지만 호주 내 도시 Toowoomba와는 직접적인 관련이 없습니다. 주로 미국의 호주식 체인 Outback Steakhouse를 통해 알려졌으며, 이제는 다른 제품으로도 확산되었습니다. 때로는 “Toomba”로도 줄여 부르며, “K-Toowoomba” 등으로도 나온 사례가 있습니다.
“몇 년 째 Toowoomba 파스타 이야기를 지켜봐 왔다”고 Petz는 인정했습니다. “진짜로 혼란스럽고 재미있게 진화한 점이 있다. 다만 이 소식은 퀸즐랜드의 한 소도시에 예기치 못한 주목을 주고 있다. 제 생각에는 Toowoomba 제품은 호주에 실제 기원이 없지만 더 많은 한국인들이 호주를 구글링하고 새로운 것을 배우는 계기가 된다면 순이익은 더 커진다, 소스가 호주산이 아니더라도.”

Petz는 이 행사를 끝으로 AustCham에서의 임무를 마치고 퇴임할 예정입니다.
