President Lee Jae Myung showed solidarity with Korean athletes competing in the Feb. 6-22 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics during a meeting with his senior aides at Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul on Thursday.
He pledged to root for their success alongside the public.
During the meeting, he noted that Korea's delegation for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics will be the largest ever for an overseas Winter Games, totaling 130 athletes.
"I hope the athletes will fully demonstrate the skills they have built over time so that their sweat and effort pay off in the next two weeks to bring honor to the country," he said.
He also instructed officials to step up the promotion of the event so that the athletes representing the country can compete to the best of their abilities amid enthusiastic support and encouragement.

그는 서울 청와대에서의 회의에서 이번 대회에 참가하는 한국 대표단이 역대 최대 규모인 130명으로 구성될 것이라고 밝혔다.
“선수들이 오랜 시간 다져 온 기량을 충분히 발휘해 남은 2주 동안의 땀과 노력이 결실을 맺어 나라에 영예를 안겨주기를 바란다.”
또한 관계 당국에 대회의 홍보를 강화해 선수들이 열띤 응원과 격려 속에서 최선을 다해 경쟁할 수 있도록 하라고 지시했다.
