Leading business figures in Korea pledged on Friday to collaborate closely with the government to tackle economic uncertainties in 2026. This commitment was made during a New Year's event organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in Seoul, where industry officials gathered to discuss economic strategies.
Notable attendees included Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who is also the KCCI chief, as well as executives from major companies like Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor. The event aimed to reaffirm the collective commitment to revitalizing the economy.
Park Il-jun, executive vice chairman of the KCCI, emphasized the need for government and parliamentary support in improving laws and policies to enable businesses to innovate and face challenges head-on.
Ryu Jin, chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries, highlighted the importance of transitioning to the "New K-Industry" in response to rapid global market changes driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).
Sohn Kyung-shik, chairman of the Korea Enterprises Federation, stated that creating a conducive environment for timely investments and innovative growth is essential for the Korean economy to transform and advance significantly.

한국의 주요 기업 인사들은 금요일 정부와의 긴밀한 협력 속에서 2026년 경제 불확실성에 대응하기 위해 공동으로 노력하겠다고 다짐했다.
업계 관계자에 따르면, 주요 기업 로비와 기업, 정부 부처, 정당의 대표들이 서울에서 열린 신년 행사에 참석하여 올해의 경제 전략을 논의했다.
주요 참석자로는 김민석 국무총리, SK그룹 회장 최태원(한국상공회의소 회장 겸직), 삼성전자 사장 박승희, 현대차 사장 성김, 주한미국상공회의소 회장 제임스 킴 등이 있다.
한국상공회의소 박일준 부회장은 "붉은 말의 해를 기념하는 신년 행사는 비즈니스 커뮤니티, 정부 및 국회 주요 관계자들과 함께 경제 활성화에 대한 우리의 의지를 재확인하기 위해 마련됐다"고 말했다.
그는 "기업들이 과감한 도전을 하고 혁신을 추구해 위기를 극복하고 성장할 수 있도록 정부와 국회가 법과 정책 개선에 최선을 다해 주기를 바란다"고 강조했다.
한국경영자총협회 류진 회장은 인공지능(AI) 붐에 의해 촉발된 글로벌 시장의 급속한 변화 속에서 한국 경제가 '뉴 K-산업' 시대를 열어야 한다고 말했다.
한국기업연합회 손경식 회장은 "기업들이 시의적절한 투자를 하고 첨단 산업의 혁신적인 성장을 통해 시장을 활성화할 수 있는 환경을 만든다면, 한국 경제는 큰 변화를 겪고 도약할 수 있을 것"이라고 말했다.
