President Lee Jae Myung met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry on Wednesday to discuss the role of sports in enhancing inter-Korean relations, according to the presidential office.
The meeting took place at the presidential office during Coventry's visit to Korea for a world anti-doping conference in Busan.
During the discussion, Lee requested Coventry's support for the development of Korean sports, expressing his hope to see the Olympic flag in the country again.
Coventry reflected on her experience at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and commended Korea for its partnership in the Olympic movement.
Lee emphasized that sports could play a significant role in improving inter-Korean relations, a sentiment Coventry supported by recalling the impactful moment of the inter-Korean unified team during the PyeongChang Games.
Additionally, Lee expressed a desire to visit the IOC, while Coventry suggested he attend the headquarters in Switzerland or the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in February.

코번트리 회장은 2018 평창 겨울올림픽 당시의 한국 방문을 회상하며 한국이 "올림픽 운동"의 파트너로서 잘 해냈다고 칭찬했다.
이 대통령은 스포츠가 남북관계 개선에 도움을 줄 수 있다고 덧붙였고, 이에 대해 코번트리 회장은 평창에서의 남북 통합 팀의 입장 장면이 깊은 인상을 남겼음을 회상하며 동의했다.
이 대통령은 IOC 방문 희망을 표현했고, 코번트리 회장은 스위스 본부나 내년 2월 밀라노-코르티나 겨울올림픽에 방문할 것을 요청했다.
