Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Chairman Gen. Jin Yong-sung and U.S. Forces Korea Commander Gen. Xavier Brunson visited the security battalion of the U.S.-led U.N. Command (UNC) on Thursday, as reported by the JCS.
The visit coincided with the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, during which Jin and Brunson encouraged service members and served food to both South Korean and U.S. troops, expressing gratitude for their contributions to South Korea's defense.
The UNC security battalion is noted as the only fully combined battalion between the UNC and South Korea, and it is the only UNC unit fully deployed to the Demilitarized Zone that separates the two Koreas.
Brunson emphasized the importance of personnel, stating, "Our platform is people, and you remain our true asymmetric advantage." He urged service members to pursue wisdom and be a source of hope for their nations and allies.
After the visit, Jin inspected front-line posts under the Army's 1st division to assess readiness and received briefings on recent North Korean activities in the border area.
The JCS reported that Jin encouraged troops to enhance their capabilities for immediate response to any situation and instructed them to act according to established principles and procedures in the event of provocations.

최고 군 고위자는 병사들에게 즉각적인 상황 대응 능력을 갖출 것을 촉구하고, 도발 발생 시 원칙과 절차에 따라 대응할 것을 지시했다.
