Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back emphasized the necessity of integrating advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance surveillance operations in border regions, as reported by the defense ministry.
Ahn made these remarks during a visit to an observation post operated by the Army's 22nd Division in the eastern front-line area, where he inspected an AI-based surveillance system.
"Establishing an AI-based surveillance operation system is the key to opening the door to building a smart and strong military," Ahn stated.
The minister noted that the implementation of such systems would enable the military to reorganize its troop resources, allowing for a greater focus on advanced weapon systems and more realistic combat training programs.
The military aims to adopt more high-tech solutions to enhance its capabilities for future warfare while addressing the challenges posed by diminishing troop numbers.
Additionally, Ahn pledged to enhance the working conditions for soldiers, categorizing this initiative as a crucial defense priority that must be addressed without delay.
