The Korean entertainment industry is projected to achieve record-high earnings in 2026, driven by the anticipated full-group activities of both BTS and BigBang, according to analysts.
In a report, an analyst noted that with BTS planning to resume full-group activities next year, their revenue is expected to rival the combined sales of major entertainment companies. Additionally, there are strong expectations for BigBang's full-group comeback to coincide with the 20th anniversary of their debut.
The analyst stated, "Should BTS and BigBang resume activities at the same time, it would naturally drive record-breaking results for the overall K-pop industry." They advised maintaining a strategy of gradually increasing exposure until clear performance results are observed.
Specifically, the analyst recommended scaling up investments in HYBE, the company behind BTS, until its market capitalization reaches 15 trillion won ($10.5 billion), noting that it currently stands at around 11 trillion won.
Another analyst highlighted that BTS has been generating excitement for their full-group comeback through events like BTS Movie Weeks, which screened concert films globally. Additional pop-up store events are also planned ahead of the anticipated 2026 world tour announcement.
The upcoming BTS world tour, scheduled from May to December 2026, is expected to feature 65 shows and attract approximately 4 million attendees. While the total number of shows may decrease slightly, the average audience per show is not expected to fall significantly below 60,000.
Starting from the second quarter of next year, when the tour begins, quarterly operating profit is projected to reach around 100 billion won.
In terms of stock performance, Hana Securities raised its target price for YG Entertainment by 12 percent, while Hyundai Motor Securities upgraded HYBE's target price. On the latest trading day, YG Entertainment shares rose by 1.84 percent, while HYBE shares increased by 1.87 percent.
The KOSPI index closed at 3,610.49, reflecting a gain of 61.28 points, or 1.73 percent.

BTS 영화 주간은 9월 24일부터 10월 5일까지 65개국의 2,500개 이상의 극장에서 네 편의 콘서트 영화를 상영했습니다.
