Korea’s internet service conglomerate Naver is set to establish an investment arm in Silicon Valley to support promising tech startups. The initiative will begin with a confirmed investment in video artificial intelligence (AI) startup Twelve Labs.
Naver announced on Sunday that Naver Ventures will be formally established within this month, under the leadership of Chief Financial Officer Kim Nam-sun. Prior to its official launch, the company hosted a networking event titled “Venturing Naver’s Next Chapter” at the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley on Thursday, attended by key executives including Board Chairman Lee Hae-jin and CEO Choi Soo-yeon.
The event attracted approximately 200 participants, featuring notable entrepreneurs, engineers, and investors from the Silicon Valley area. Notable attendees included Sendbird CEO Kim Dong-shin, Moloco CEO Ahn Ik-jin, and Kim Sung-moo of DataRise.
Naver expressed its commitment to support startups during a challenging funding environment, emphasizing its goal to provide stable investment opportunities not only in Korea but also in North America.

네이버는 일요일에 발표한 바에 따르면, 네이버 벤처스가 이달 내로 설립을 완료할 예정이며, 최고재무책임자 김남선이 이 투자 회사를 이끌 예정이다.
공식 출범에 앞서, 회사 임원들은 실리콘밸리 포시즌스 호텔에서 “네이버의 다음 장에 도전”이라는 주제로 네트워킹 행사를 개최했으며, 이 행사에는 네이버 이사회 의장, CEO 및 CFO가 참석하였다.
이 행사에는 실리콘밸리에서 활동하는 저명한 기업가, 엔지니어 및 투자자 약 200명이 참석했다. 참석자에는 셀프버드의 김동신 CEO, 몰로코의 안익진 CEO, 데이터라이즈의 김성무 등이 포함되었다.
네이버는 글로벌 불확실성으로 인해 많은 스타트업이 자금 확보에 어려움을 겪고 있는 상황에서 한국뿐만 아니라 북미에서도 안정적인 투자를 지원하여 스타트업이 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 할 것이라고 밝혔다.
