Adrian Beltre, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player with a 21-year Hall of Fame career, addressed Korean minor league players on the importance of sacrifice and perseverance for long-term success in baseball.
During his speech to players of the Futures League affiliated with the Korea Baseball Organization club SSG Landers, Beltre emphasized the need to "sacrifice the present for the future." He encouraged players to endure challenging moments with mental strength, stating that such sacrifices could lead to a more successful career.
Beltre noted that he has witnessed many talented players fail to reach their full potential and have short careers in the major leagues. His remarks were delivered through a Spanish interpreter while he was in Korea alongside former All-Star pitcher Cole Hamels, at the invitation of their former Texas Rangers teammate Choo Shin-soo.
Choo concluded his 16-season MLB career by playing for the Landers from 2021 to 2024.
