The Supreme Court is set to deliver a final verdict next month in the drug abuse case involving actor Yoo Ah-in, who faces multiple charges related to the habitual use of medical narcotics.
Legal sources indicate that the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Ma Yong-joo, has scheduled Yoo’s sentencing for 10:10 a.m. on July 3.
Yoo was initially sentenced to one year in prison by a lower court in September 2023 and taken into custody. However, an appeals court suspended the sentence in February 2024, granting him a two-year probation.
The actor is accused of administering four types of medical narcotics—propofol, midazolam, ketamine, and remimazolam—a total of 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022. He also allegedly obtained over 1,100 sleeping pills through 44 illegal prescriptions using others’ names from May 2021 to August 2023.
In addition, prosecutors allege that Yoo smoked marijuana in the U.S. in January 2023 with acquaintances and incited others to do the same.
The upcoming Supreme Court decision will conclude a high-profile legal matter involving the actor.

법조계에 따르면, 대법원은 마용주 재판장의 주재 하에 유아인의 선고를 7월 3일 오전 10시 10분으로 예정하고 있다. 유아인은 2023년 9월 하급 법원에서 1년 징역형을 선고받고 구속된 바 있다. 그러나 2024년 2월 항소법원에서는 이 형을 정지하고 2년의 집행유예를 부여했다.
유아인은 2020년 9월부터 2022년 3월까지 총 181회에 걸쳐 프로포폴, 미다졸람, 케타민, 레미마졸람 등 4종의 의료 마약을 사용한 혐의를 받고 있다. 또한 2021년 5월부터 2023년 8월 사이 다른 사람의 명의를 사용해 44건의 불법 처방전을 통해 1,100개 이상의 수면제를 구입한 것으로 전해졌다.
더불어 검찰은 유아인이 2023년 1월 미국에서 최 씨라는 친구와 함께 대마초를 흡연하고, 다른 사람들도 흡연하도록 부추긴 혐의도 있다.
다가오는 대법원의 결정은 한국에서의 고위험 사건이 종료되는 것을 의미할 것이다.
