The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) on Wednesday unveiled the finalized campaign pledges of its presidential candidate, emphasizing a commitment to reform the prosecution and judiciary.
The policy booklet includes three major policy visions, 15 policy tasks, and 247 detailed pledges, which collectively aim to address various sectors and promote the "restoration of the constitutional order."
Among the key reforms proposed for the prosecution, the DPK pledged to separate investigative and indictment powers, enhance judicial oversight to prevent abuse of indictment powers, and introduce a system for dismissing prosecutors. Additionally, the party formalized a commitment to increase the number of Supreme Court justices, asserting that this would bolster public trust in the judiciary.
However, the DPK did not provide a detailed plan regarding this increase, amid ongoing controversy surrounding a previously withdrawn bill that sought to appoint non-lawyers as justices and expand the bench to 100 members.
Furthermore, the DPK pledged to develop measures for democratic control over the president's authority to declare martial law and appoint key officials.

검찰 개혁을 위해 더불어민주당은 수사 및 기소 권한의 분리를 약속하고, 기소 권한 남용에 대한 사법 통제를 강화하며 검사를 해임할 수 있는 시스템을 도입하겠다고 밝혔다. 또한 대법관 수를 늘리겠다는 공약을 공식화했으며, 이는 법원에 대한 공신력을 높일 것이라고 주장했다.
그러나 더불어민주당은 일부 당 의원들이 추진하였던 비법조인 대법관 임명 및 bench를 100명으로 늘리려는 법안이 철회되면서 이를 위한 구체적인 계획은 제시하지 않았다. 더불어민주당은 대통령의 국가 비상사태 선포 권한에 대한 민주적 통제를 위한 방안을 마련하겠다고 약속했다.
