The state anti-corruption investigation office announced on Wednesday that it has suspended its attempt to raid the presidential office regarding allegations of interference by former President Yoon Suk Yeol in a military probe related to the death of a Marine conscript two years ago.
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) indicated that its prosecutors and investigators initiated a search at the presidential compound in Yongsan, central Seoul, but halted the operation at approximately 5:30 p.m. The CIO stated, "The search and seizure operation by the investigation team targeting the presidential secretariat and the national security office was suspended at around 5:30 p.m., and discussions regarding its execution are ongoing."
This incident marks the first occasion the CIO has sought to raid the presidential office since the inception of its investigation into the case. The allegations relate to Yoon's potential involvement in the Marine Corps' inquiry into the death of Cpl. Chae Su-geun, who was swept away by a swollen stream in Yecheon, located 161 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

이번 사건에 대한 수사가 시작된 이후, CIO가 대통령실에 대해 압수수색을 시도한 것은 이번이 처음이다. 이 의혹은 윤 전 대통령이 경북 예천에서 불어난 하천에 휩쓸려 사망한 채 수균 해병의 조사에 개입했을 가능성에 초점을 맞추고 있다.
