Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has ended his 21-game homerless streak. He hit a two-run home run off Chicago Cubs starter Colin Rea in the third inning at Wrigley Field on Tuesday.
With one out and a runner on first, Lee connected with a 93.9 miles per hour fastball, sending the ball into the right field bleachers. This marked Lee's fourth home run of the season, with the ball leaving his bat at 105.4 mph and traveling 385 feet at a 24-degree launch angle. His last home run was on April 13 against the New York Yankees, where he hit two homers before entering the dry spell.
Lee had previously struck out against Rea in the first inning but rebounded with his home run in the third. Following this, he flied out to center in the fifth and singled to center in the seventh inning. The Cubs managed to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth, but Lee's contributions continued into extra innings.
In the top of the 10th inning, Lee led off by popping out to shortstop Dansby Swanson, but he later had a significant impact in the 11th inning, driving in key runs for the Giants.
