Shares of Samyang Foods, recognized for its Buldak spicy "ramyeon," experienced a nearly 20 percent increase following the company's announcement of strong first-quarter earnings.
On Friday, the stock surged by 19.07 percent to 1.18 million won ($846), significantly outperforming the broader Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI), which rose by 0.21 percent.
This stock rally was driven by a reported 49 percent year-on-year increase in net profit for the January-March period. Operating profit also saw a substantial rise of 67 percent on-year, reaching an all-time high of 133.99 billion won, while sales climbed 37 percent to a record high of 529.01 billion won.
Notably, Samyang Foods generated over 80 percent of its total revenue from international markets. Last year marked a milestone for the company, as its exports surpassed the 1 trillion-won threshold for the first time, largely fueled by robust sales of the Buldak ramyeon series in the United States and China.
Looking ahead, Samyang aims to exceed 1 trillion won in overseas sales this year by enhancing its production capacity. The company currently operates three domestic plants, with plans for a fourth plant to be completed in the first half of the year.

영업이익은 전년 대비 67% 상승하여 역대 최대인 1,339억 원에 달했으며, 매출은 37% 증가하여 5,290억 원의 기록을 세웠다.
삼양식품은 전체 매출의 80% 이상을 해외시장에서 얻고 있다. 지난해에는 불닭볶음면 시리즈의 강력한 판매에 힘입어 수출이 처음으로 1조 원을 초과했다.
특히 미국과 중국에서의 성장이 두드러진다. 삼양식품은 생산 능력을 확장하여 올해 해외 매출이 1조 원을 초과하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
현재 삼양식품은 국내에 세 개의 공장을 운영하고 있으며, 올해 상반기에는 네 번째 공장이 완료될 예정이다.
