(KOGAS), assuming office for a three-year term through July 2029.</p><p>He was appointed at an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting on July 23 and officially took the helm after endorsement by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources and approval by the president.</p><p>During the inauguration at the company’s Daegu headquarters, Hong outlined a three-part vision to “connect the future of Korea’s energy”: increase KOGAS’ value, strengthen its role as a bridge energy provider, and transform the company into an AI-powered energy platform.</p><p>Hong described KOGAS as a key public company supporting Korea’s industries and daily life while contributing to national energy security, and emphasized plans to improve financial health, raise value, and lay a foundation for future growth.</p><p>He stressed promoting natural gas as a bridge energy to complement renewable sources, aiding energy security and carbon neutrality in Korea, and highlighted the use of AI and data technologies to enhance demand forecasting, supply management, and global energy trading, envisioning an AI-based energy platform.</p><p>Hong is a graduate of Korea University with a degree in agricultural economics.</p>
