AFP-Yonhap</p></div></div><p class="editor-p">Korea is joining Anthropic’s cybersecurity initiative Project Glasswing, which will give the country access to the company’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) model Claude Mythos as part of a broader expansion aimed at strengthening global cyber defenses.</p><p class="editor-p">Anthropic announced Tuesday (local time) that it is expanding the project, a collaborative cybersecurity program built around its Mythos model, to around 150 organizations across 15 countries, significantly widening access beyond its initial cohort of roughly 50 institutions. Mythos, unveiled in April, is a security-focused AI model designed to identify software vulnerabilities at an expert level.</p><p class="editor-p">Under the latest expansion, the Ministry of Science and ICT will participate in the program through the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the state-run agency for cyber incident response and digital security. </p><p class="editor-p">“We are aware that KISA has joined Project Glasswing and secured access to the Mythos model,” a ministry official said.</p><p class="editor-p">KISA is expected to be granted access to the Mythos Preview model and its related tools, such as Claude Security. </p><p class="editor-p">Industry sources also indicate that major Korean companies, such as Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and SK Telecom, are also expected to be included as new partners, though their participation has not been officially confirmed.</p><p class="editor-p">Both Samsung Electronics and SK hynix previously took part in Anthropic’s Series H funding round as strategic infrastructure partners. Their combined investment is said to be in the trillion‑won range, with Samsung’s commitment alone reportedly reaching several trillion won.</p><p class="editor-p">Since introducing Mythos, Anthropic has restricted access to vetted institutions due to concerns that such capabilities could be misused. Within Project Glasswing, participating organizations use the model for vulnerability detection, patching and pre-release security testing.</p><p class="editor-p">The company said early participants have already used Mythos to uncover more than 10,000 high-severity or critical vulnerabilities within weeks.</p><p class="editor-p">Anthropic framed the rapid expansion as a response to escalating AI‑driven cyber threats and a shrinking window for controlled deployment, arguing defenses must scale before similar models become widely available.</p><p class="editor-p">“Within 6 to 12 months, we expect that many other AI companies will have Mythos-class models, and they could release them without safeguards that prevent misuse,” the company said. “In that world, cyberattacks could occur much more often, and in much more unpredictable forms. <p>KISA는 Mythos 프리뷰 모델과 Claude Security와 같은 관련 도구에 대한 접근 권한을 받을 것으로 예측된다.</p>
<p>업계 소식통에 따르면 삼성전자, SK하이닉스, SK텔레콤 등 국내 주요 기업들도 신규 파트너로 포함될 가능성이 있지만, 참여 여부는 아직 공식 확인되지 않았다.</p>
<p>삼성전자와 SK하이닉스는 이전에 Anthropic의 시리즈 H 자금조달 라운드에 전략적 인프라 파트너로 참여한 바 있다. 이들의 combined 투자 규모는 조 단위로 알려져 있으며, 삼성의 약속은 수조 원대에 이르는 것으로 보도되었다.</p>
<p> Mythos를 도입한 이후 Anthropic은 남용 가능성에 대한 우려로 확인된 기관에 한해 접근을 제한해 왔다. 프로젝트 글래스윙 내 참여 기관은 모델을 취약점 탐지, 패치 및 사전 배포 보안 테스트에 활용한다.</p>
<p>회사에 따르면 조기에 참여한 기관들이 몇 주 만에 중요도 높음 또는 치명적 취약점 10,000건 이상을 발견했다고 한다.</p>
<p>Anthropic은 AI 기반 사이버 위협이 증가하고 제어된 배포를 위한 창이 좁아지는 상황에 대한 대응으로 확장을 설명했다. 더 많은 기업이 같은 수준의 모델을 보유하게 될 것이며, 안전장치 없이 이를 공개할 수 있다면 사이버공격이 더 자주, 더 예측 불가능한 형태로 발생할 수 있다고 경고했다. Therefore defenders must scale accordingly.</p>
