<p>A U.S. Marine unit based in Japan demonstrated aviation ground support and logistics capabilities during a readiness evaluation session to strengthen interoperability with Korean Marines, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The Marine Wing Support Squadron 174, affiliated with the III Marine Expeditionary Force, conducted the combat readiness assessment with Korean troops from March 14 to April 19 as part of the annual Korean Marine Exercise Program (KMEP).</p>
<p>During the training, U.S. Marine forces collaborated with Korean Marines to establish mobile sites to quickly refuel and rearm aircraft in austere environments.</p>
<p>The Marines also carried out intensive firefighting drills at Kunsan Air Base in Gunsan to practice coordinated responses to simulated mishaps.</p>
<p>The exercises included a comprehensive mass casualty scenario to test the troops' ability to provide immediate medical triage and evacuation under simulated combat conditions.</p>

III 해병대 원정대에 소속된 해병비행대지원대대(Marine Wing Support Squadron 174)가 한국 해병대와 함께 매년 실시되는 한국 해병대 훈련 프로그램(KMEP) 훈련 기간인 3월 14일부터 4월 19일까지 전투 준비 태세 평가를 실시했다고 지휘부는 전했다.
훈련 중 미 해병대는 한국 해병대와 협력해 항공기에 신속한 연료 보급 및 무장 재장비를 가능하게 하는 이동식 현장을 구축했다. 이 같은 현장들은 “열악한 환경”에서도 작전을 수행할 수 있도록 설계됐다.
또한 미 해병대는 전남 규성시 근처 군산 상공기지에서 집중 화재 진압 훈련을 진행해 모의 사고에 대한 협력 대응을 연습했다.
동맹국은 또한 대규모 부상자 사건 대응에 대한 포괄적 대량 부상자 훈련에 참여해 전투 상황을 모의한 가운데 즉각적인 의료 분류 및 후송 능력을 확인했다는 성명도 함께 발표됐다.
