This year, 19 student films were selected from 2,747 submissions globally.</p><p class="editor-p">“Silent Voices” depicts a day in the life of a family who immigrated from South Korea to New York, portraying how the parents and two daughters quietly manage their emotions amid daily struggles.</p>

금요일에 보낸 메시지에서 채 장관은 진 감독의 <Silent Voices>가 이민자 가정의 일상을 통해 “조용하지만 깊은 공명”을 전하며 전 세계의 사람들을 감동시켰다고 말했다.
그는 “다양한 개인의 감정을 세심하게 포착한 진정한 관심과 연출 능력이 세계 무대에서 값진 성과로 이어졌다”는 격려의 박수를 보낸다고 적었다.
또한 “당신의 상은 한국 영화의 차세대 잠재력을 보여주었고, 영화 산업의 젊은 사람들에게 새로운 용기와 영감이 될 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
라 시네프 부문은 영화 학교에 다니는 신진 감독의 작품을 위한 경쟁 부문이다. 주최 측에 따르면 올해 전 세계 2,747편 중 19편이 선정되었다.
<Silent Voices>는 미국으로 이주한 뒤 뉴욕에 정착한 가족의 하루를 따라간다. 17분 길이의 이 영화는 두 자매와 부모가 서로 다른 일상 속에서 감정을 조용히 숨기는 모습을 섬세하게 담아낸다.
