The ethics panel of the ruling Democratic Party issued a warning to Rep. Choi Min-hee for accepting cash gifts from state agencies under her oversight on the occasion of her daughter's wedding.
Choi, who chairs the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, came under scrutiny after she held her daughter’s wedding at the National Assembly during an annual parliamentary audit period in October last year.
The wedding drew criticism after it was revealed that she accepted cash gifts, reportedly as high as 1 million won ($696), from officials at government agencies and companies within her committee’s parliamentary oversight.
The panel concluded Choi violated the duty of decency, issuing a "warning," the lowest of its four-level disciplinary measures.
The panel is expected to report the decision to the party’s supreme council as early as Friday for final confirmation.

윤리심판위원회는 최 의원이 품위 의무를 위반했다고 판단해 4단계 징계 중 최하의 '경고'를 내렸다.
해당 위원회는 금요일 이내에 당 최고위원회에 이 결정을 보고해 최종 확인을 받을 예정이라고 밝혔다.
