A former executive testified in a closed-door congressional hearing in Washington as a major data breach investigation involving a South Korea–listed e-commerce group continues.
The interim chief did not respond when asked by reporters whether he had a message for consumers in South Korea, as he appeared at the hearing hosted by a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee.
The appearance followed a subpoena issued by the committee’s chair and the subcommittee chair, who criticized the South Korean government’s treatment of American firms in relation to the investigation.
Earlier this month, a joint public-private probe found that more than 33.6 million customer accounts were affected by the data leak.
