A U.S. federal jury has ordered Samsung Electronics to pay $445.5 million in damages after determining that the company infringed on multiple wireless network technology patents held by an American firm.
The jury, based in Marshall, Texas, ruled on Friday that Samsung violated four patents owned by Collision Communications, a New Hampshire-based company that specializes in wireless network efficiency technologies.
The jury concluded that several of Samsung's products, including Galaxy smartphones and notebook computers with wireless capabilities, infringed on the patents in question.
Collision Communications initiated the lawsuit against Samsung in 2023, alleging infringement of its proprietary technology.

로이터와 기타 매체의 보도에 따르면, 텍사스주 마샬에 있는 연방 배심원은 금요일(미국 시간) 삼성전자가 무선 네트워크 효율 기술을 전문으로 하는 뉴햄프셔 소재의 Collision Communications가 소유한 4개의 특허를 위반했다고 판결했다.
배심원은 삼성전자의 갤럭시 스마트폰과 무선 기능이 있는 노트북 컴퓨터를 포함한 제품이 해당 특허를 침해한 것으로 판단했다.
Collision Communications는 2023년 삼성전자에 대해 자사의 독점 기술 침해를 주장하며 소송을 제기했다.
