Korea failed to secure a victory against the World Team on the second day of the International Crown on Friday, resulting in a tie and a loss after leading in both matches.
In their fourball match at New Korea Country Club in Goyang, Ko Jin-young and Ryu Hae-ran, representing the No. 2 seed Korea, ended in a tie against Brooke Henderson of Canada and Hsu Wei-Ling of Chinese Taipei from the seventh-seed World Team. Meanwhile, Kim Hyo-joo and Choi Hye-jin lost their match 1-up to Charley Hull of England and Lydia Ko of New Zealand.
Korea had previously recorded a win and a tie against Sweden to start the competition on Thursday. In this format, a match win earns one point, while a tie awards half a point to each team. Korea is scheduled to face Japan on Saturday.
With two points accumulated over two days, Korea currently holds second place in Pool B, while the World Team leads with three points. Japan and Sweden are tied for third place with 1.5 points each.
The International Crown features seven countries — Korea, the United States, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Sweden, and China — along with a new World Team comprised of players from countries not qualified. Teams are divided into two pools based on seeding, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the semifinals on Sunday morning, followed by the final in the afternoon.
All pool matches are played in a fourball format, where each player plays their own ball, and the lower score of the two teammates counts as the team's score for each hole. Semifinals and finals will incorporate both foursomes, where teammates alternate shots, and singles matches.
This marks the fifth edition of the International Crown, with different champions in each of the previous four events. Korea was the champion in 2018 when they hosted the tournament for the first time.
In Friday's matches, Korea's Ko and Ryu were ahead through 16 holes, but a birdie from Henderson leveled the score, resulting in a tie. Kim and Choi were unable to take the lead at any point in their match, though they managed to draw level with birdies on the 17th hole. However, both opponents made birdies on the final hole, securing the win for the World Team.
In other Pool A matches, No. 4 seed Australia and No. 8 seed China split their matches. Minjee Lee and Stephanie Kyriacou of Australia won 2 & 1 against Liu Yan and Zhang Weiwei, while Liu Ruixin and Yin Ruonin claimed a point for China with a 1-up victory over Hannah Green and Grace Kim.
In Pool B, No. 2 seed Japan achieved a win and a loss against No. 6 seed Sweden. Miyu Yamashita and Rio Takeda defeated Madelene Sagstrom and Ingrid Lindblad 3 & 2, while Maja Stark and Linn Grant of Sweden responded with a 3 & 2 win over Ayaka Furue and Mao Saigo of Japan.
The top-seeded United States remains the only team to win all four matches in the first two days of competition, following two victories over No. 5 seed Thailand on Friday. Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin won decisively 5 & 4, while Lilia Vu and Lauren Coughlin secured a 3 & 2 victory.
With four points, the United States has already qualified for the semifinals, with one day of pool play remaining on Saturday.

2번 시드 한국의 고진영과 류해란은 LPGA 매치 플레이 대회에서 7번 시드 세계 팀의 캐나다 브룩 헨더슨과 대만 훙위린과의 포볼 경기에서 무승부를 기록했다. 경기는 서울에서 북서쪽에 위치한 고양 뉴 코리아 컨트리클럽에서 열렸다.
김효주와 최혜진은 잉글랜드의 찰리 헐과 뉴질랜드의 리디아 고에게 1홀 차로 패했다.
한국은 이 대회 첫 날 스웨덴을 상대로 한 경기에서 승리와 무승부를 기록했다. 경기에서 승리하면 1점을, 무승부일 경우 각 팀에 반점을 부여한다. 주최국인 한국은 토요일 일본과 경기를 치를 예정이다.
이틀 동안 2점을 기록한 한국은 B조에서 2위를 유지하고 있으며, 세계 팀이 3점으로 선두를 달리고 있다. B조의 다른 팀인 일본과 스웨덴은 각각 1.5점을 기록하고 있다.
국제 크라운에는 한국, 미국, 일본, 호주, 태국, 스웨덴, 중국의 7개 국가가 참가하며, 자격이 없는 국가의 선수들로 구성된 새로운 세계 팀도 있다.
1, 4, 5, 8번 시드는 A조에, 2, 3, 6, 7번 시드는 B조에 배치되었다.
각 조에서 상위 두 팀이 토요일까지 진행된 후 일요일 아침 반준결승에 진출하며, 결승전은 일요일 오후에 예정되어 있다.
모든 조별 경기는 포볼 형식으로 진행되며, 각 선수는 자신의 볼을 치고 두 팀원 중 낮은 점수가 팀의 점수로 인정된다.
반준결승과 결승에서는 포섬과 싱글 경기의 조합 방식으로 진행된다. 포섬에서는 각 팀이 하나의 공을 사용하고, 두 팀원이 번갈아 샷을 치며 홀을 마무리한다.
이번 국제 크라운은 다섯 번째 대회로, 이전 4회 대회에서 모두 다른 챔피언이 탄생했다. 한국은 2018년에 처음으로 주최국으로서 대회 우승을 차지했다.
고진영과 류해란은 16홀까지 상대를 이기고 있었으나, 헨더슨의 버디로 인해 무승부로 끝났다.
김효주와 최혜진은 경기를 한번도 리드하지 못했지만, 고와 류가 17홀에서 버디로 동점을 만들었다. 그러나 세계 팀의 두 선수 모두 마감 홀에서 버디를 기록했고, 한국 선수들은 이를 따라가지 못했다.
금요일 진행된 다른 경기에서는 4번 시드 호주와 8번 시드 중국이 A조 경기에서 두 경기를 나누어 가졌다. 민지 리와 스테파니 키리아쿠가 리우얀과 장웨이웨이를 2&1로 이겼고, 리우루이신과 인루오닌은 한나 그린과 그레이스 킴을 1홀 차로 이기며 중국에 점수를 안겼다.
2번 시드 일본은 6번 시드 스웨덴과의 경기에서 승리와 패배를 기록했다. 미유 야마시타와 리오 다케다가 마델렌 세그스트롬과 잉그리드 린블라드를 3&2로 이겼고, 스웨덴은 마야 스타크와 린 그란트가 일본의 후르에 아야카와 사이고 마오를 3&2로 이기며 반격했다.
1번 시드 미국은 대회 첫 이틀 동안 4경기에서 모두 승리한 유일한 팀으로, 금요일에는 5번 시드 태국을 상대로 두 차례 승리를 거두었다.
여리미 노와 앤젤 인은 지노 티티쿨과 파자리 안안나룩카른을 5&4로 압도했으며, 릴리아 뷰와 로렌 코흘린은 차네떼 완나세인과 재스민 수완나푸라를 3&2로 이겼다.
미국은 4점을 기록하며 일요일에 예정된 반준결승에 진출하며, 조별 경기는 토요일에도 계속 진행된다.
