As the film industry undergoes significant technological and consumption changes, France is prioritizing cultural exchange and collaboration with key global film partners, with Korea identified as a primary focus. This was emphasized by Gaetan Bruel, president of the French National Centre for Cinema (CNC), during a press conference at the French Embassy in Seoul.
Bruel highlighted the industry's transformations, including the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technology and the shift from traditional cinema experiences to individual consumption via mobile devices. He pointed out that while France is strong in intellectual property (IP) protection, Korea has notable strengths in the development of new IP.
"By sharing our successful models, there's much to discuss regarding IP development and co-ownership, maximizing our synergies," Bruel stated. He is in Korea to participate in the ongoing Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), which will continue until July 13. Bruel also mentioned the importance of advocating for shared interests between Korea and France in the evolving film landscape.
