Over half of Korean companies view economic cooperation with Japan as beneficial and believe it should continue, according to a survey released Thursday. This survey coincides with the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The poll, conducted by the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) among the country’s top 1,000 non-financial firms by sales, revealed that 56.4 percent of responding firms believe bilateral economic cooperation has positively contributed to the development of Korea's economy. Specifically, 7.9 percent of firms indicated a very positive impact, while 48.5 percent assessed it as generally positive.
Conversely, 33.7 percent of respondents viewed the impact as neutral, and 9.9 percent felt it had somewhat hindered development. Key areas identified as benefiting from this cooperation included technology transfer, market expansion, tourism, and cultural industries.
Furthermore, 62.4 percent of respondents expressed that continued economic cooperation is essential for Korea's future growth. Companies anticipating the most synergy with Japan in the future include those in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.

특히, 7.9%는 매우 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다고 응답했으며, 48.5%는 대체로 긍정적이라고 판단했다. 또한 33.7%는 영향이 중립적이라고 밝혔고, 9.9%는 발전에 어느 정도 장애가 있었다고 응답했다. 양국 협력으로 가장 긍정적인 영향을 받은 분야로는 기술 이전, 시장 확장, 관광 및 문화 산업이 언급되었다.
더불어 응답자의 62.4%는 한국의 미래 성장을 위해 지속적인 경제 협력이 필요하다고 주장했다. 앞으로 일본과의 시너지를 가장 많이 기대하는 기업으로는 반도체 및 인공지능 관련 기업이 포함되었다.
