The Korea Exchange (KRX) has launched an after-hours trading session for derivatives, starting Monday, to enhance its global competitiveness and improve convenience for investors.
The new session operates from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., following the regular trading hours of 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. This initiative is part of the KRX’s broader strategy for around-the-clock trading of all financial assets, including stocks, bonds, and derivatives.
This after-hours trading session represents a shift from the previous arrangement with Eurex, a prominent European derivatives exchange, where derivatives linked to the KOSPI and Kosdaq were traded from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Eurex-based trading service concluded last Thursday.
The KRX stated that the new system will facilitate easier after-hours trading for investors, emphasizing that its independent trading service is simpler than the previous Eurex-based model.
Furthermore, the KRX has indicated plans to expand its offerings in the future.

총 19시간에 걸친 거래 세션은 주식, 채권, 파생상품 등 모든 거래 가능한 금융 자산에 대한 24시간 운영을 위한 KRX의 더 넓은 계획의 일환이다. KRX의 새로운 연장 거래 세션은 유럽의 주요 파생상품 거래소인 유렉스와의 협력으로 제공되던 이전 세션과는 다른 방식으로 진행된다. 유렉스에서 KOSPI와 코스닥에 연계된 파생상품은 오후 6시부터 다음날 오전 5시까지 거래되었으나, 유렉스 기반 거래 서비스는 지난 목요일 종료되었다.
KRX는 "새 시스템의 도입으로 투자자들은 더욱 간편하게 연장 거래에 참여할 수 있을 것"이라고 밝혔다. KRX는 자사 독립 거래 서비스가 유렉스 기반의 서비스보다 더 간소화되었다고 강조했다.
KRX는 앞으로의 서비스 확장을 계획하고 있다고 덧붙였다.
