The Korea Enterprises Federation (KEF) announced that its Chairman, Sohn Kyung-shik, has been awarded the Henry G. Bennett Global Fellow Award. This recognition, established in 2001, honors individuals demonstrating exceptional leadership in addressing complex global issues and fostering international collaboration, particularly those affiliated with Oklahoma State University or the state of Oklahoma.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday in Seoul. Sohn, an alumnus of Oklahoma State University, is the second Korean to receive this honor, following former Prime Minister Nam Duck-woo.
During his acceptance speech, Sohn expressed that this recognition is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride for CJ Group and the Republic of Korea. He stated, "As the second Korean recipient of this honor ... and as someone joining the ranks of global leaders such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, I am deeply humbled and inspired."
Notable past recipients of the award include former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Forbes Media Chair and Editor-in-Chief Steve Forbes.
한국경영자총협회(KEF) 회장 손경식이 헨리 G. 베넷 글로벌 펠로우 상 수상자로 선정되었다고 KEF가 월요일에 발표했다.
이 상은 2001년에 시작되어 복잡한 글로벌 도전에 대응하고 국제적인 교류를 촉진하는데 뛰어난 리더십을 발휘한 개인을 기리기 위해 제정되었다. 특히 오클라호마 주립대학교나 오클라호마 주와의 연결이 있는 수상자들이 포함된다. 수상식은 토요일 서울에서 열렸다.
오클라호마 주립대학교 졸업생인 손 회장은 이 상의 두 번째 한국 수상자가 되었으며, 이전에는 전 총리 남덕우가 수상한 바 있다. 손 회장은 수상 소감에서 "이 인정을 받는 것은 개인적인 이정표일 뿐만 아니라 CJ 그룹과 대한민국에 대한 자랑스러운 순간이기도 하다"고 말했다. "이 상의 두 번째 한국 수상자로서 ... 그리고 전 영국 총리 토니 블레어와 같은 세계적인 리더들에 합류하게 되어 깊은 겸손과 영감을 느낀다"고 덧붙였다.
과거 수상자 중에는 전 미국 국무장관 콘돌리자 라이스와 포브스 미디어 의장 및 편집장 스티브 포브스도 포함된다.
