Bae Dong-hyun, head of the Korea Para Nordic Skiing Federation, has been nominated to run for president of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC) announced this development on Tuesday, confirming Bae as the South Korean candidate for the upcoming IPC presidential election.
Bae received unanimous endorsement as the nominee during the first meeting of the KPC International Relations Committee in May. He submitted his candidacy file to the IPC on Monday morning.
The IPC presidential election is scheduled to take place in Seoul during the General Assembly on September 26-27. If elected, Bae would become the first South Korean president of the IPC since its establishment in 1989.
In addition to his role with the Korea Para Nordic Skiing Federation, Bae serves as president of Changsung Group and is the chairman of both the BDH Paras Foundation and the Changsung Scholarship Foundation. The BDH Paras Foundation operates a semi-professional para sports club named "BDH Paras," which includes athletes competing in Nordic skiing and shooting para sport.
Bae expressed that his life changed significantly after discovering para sports in 2012.

배 회장은 국가 장애인 노르딕 스키 단체의 수장 역할을 수행할 뿐만 아니라, 창성그룹의 회장, BDH 파라스 재단과 창성장학회의 이사장도 맡고 있습니다.
BDH 파라스 재단은 노르딕 스키와 사격 장애인 스포츠 선수들을 포함한 반프로 장애인 스포츠 클럽인 "BDH 파라스"를 운영하고 있습니다.
배 회장은 "2012년에 장애인 스포츠를 처음 접한 이후로 제 인생이 바뀌었습니다."라고 말했습니다.
