The Ministry of Justice has announced plans to establish an independent agency focused on immigration affairs as part of the new government administration's initiatives. This development represents a significant overhaul of the immigration system, which is presently managed by multiple government ministries.
The proposed unified agency aims to centralize functions related to visa issuance, border control, and integration policies, reflecting a shift in the government’s strategy towards an increasingly diverse foreign population.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice confirmed the initiative, which was originally conceived under the previous administration, remains a priority due to the rising demand for a dedicated immigration body. “Considering the need for an organization dedicated to immigration issues, the Ministry of Justice will collaborate with other relevant government ministries to create such an agency in line with the new government’s approach,” the representative stated.
This confirmation follows the ministry's submission of its five-year policy plan to the presidential office, highlighting the importance of addressing immigration challenges in the country.
