A nonprofit organization, Walk Together, collaborated with a construction project management firm to host an event honoring Ethiopian veterans of the Korean War and their families. The gathering commemorated the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1950-53 Korean War, taking place on Wednesday.
The event aimed to pay tribute to the contributions of the veterans and their families. Among the attendees was Tilahun Tessema Game, a 100-year-old veteran who actively participated in combat in Gangwon Province in 1952. Also in attendance was Senbeta Mamite Hunde, 73, the daughter of a soldier who lost his life during the war. This event marked Tessema's first return to Korea in 73 years.
The chairman of Walk Together and HanmiGlobal, Kim Jong-hoon, delivered a welcoming address and presented plaques of appreciation to the veterans and their families. Tessema reflected on his experiences, stating, “I joined the Korean War at a young age and fought fiercely. Seeing how far Korea has come brought tears to my eyes. I am truly grateful for the support from Walk Together.”

건설 프로젝트 관리 회사인 HanmiGlobal과 비영리 단체는 참전 용사와 그 가족들에게 경의를 표하기 위해 환영 리셉션을 조직했습니다. 행사에는 1952년 강원도 전선에서 싸운 100세의 참전 용사 티라훈 테세마 게임과 전쟁 중 전사한 군인의 딸인 73세의 센베타 마미테 헌데도 참석했습니다.
테세마에게는 73년 만에 한국을 처음 방문하는 것이었습니다. Walk Together의 김종훈 회장은 또한 HanmiGlobal의 회장으로서 환영사를 전하고 참전 용사와 그 가족들에게 감사 plaque를 전달했습니다.
테세마는 “젊은 나이에 한국 전쟁에 참전하여 격렬하게 싸웠다. 한국이 이만큼 발전한 것을 보니 눈물이 핑 돌았다. Walk Together의 지원에 진심으로 감사드린다”고 말했습니다.
