Ju Haknyeon of the K-pop boy group The Boyz has withdrawn from the group and terminated his exclusive contract following a controversy regarding a private meeting with a former Japanese adult video actress.
On Wednesday, the group's agency announced that they took immediate steps to suspend his activities upon being informed of the issue involving his private life. The agency stated, "After careful review, we recognized the seriousness of the situation and concluded that it would be difficult to maintain trust in him as an artist."
Following discussions with the members of The Boyz, the agency confirmed Ju Haknyeon's withdrawal from the group and the termination of his contract. They emphasized that this decision was necessary to protect the other members and the team, requesting understanding from fans. Ju Haknyeon will cease all activities as a member of The Boyz effective immediately.
Reports indicate that Ju Haknyeon had a private meeting with former AV actress Asuka Kirara, which contributed to the controversy surrounding his departure.
