SK earthon, the energy exploration unit of Korea's SK Group, announced that it has secured exploration rights to two offshore oil and gas blocks in Indonesia. The company signed production sharing contracts (PSCs) for the Serpang block near Java Island and the Binaiya block near the Maluku Islands with Indonesia's oil and gas regulatory body.
The signing ceremony occurred in the presence of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. Under the PSC terms, the contractor is responsible for the costs and risks associated with exploration and development, while also sharing production output with the host government.
Each block covers an area of approximately 8,500 square kilometers, which is about 14 times the size of Seoul. The Serpang block is identified as one of Indonesia's most promising petroleum regions, with adjacent blocks already in production. The undiscovered petroleum resources in this area are estimated to be as high as 1.2 billion barrels of oil.
SK earthon holds a 14 percent stake in the Serpang block, while Malaysia's state-owned Petronas owns 51 percent, and Japan's Inpex has a 35 percent stake.
한국 SK 그룹의 에너지 탐사 부문인 SK earthon이 목요일 인도네시아에서 두 개의 해양 석유 및 가스 블록에 대한 탐사 권리를 획득했다고 밝혔다.
회사는 최근 자바섬 근처의 세르팡 블록과 말루쿠 제도 근처의 비나야 블록에 대해 인도네시아 석유 및 가스 규제 기관과 생산 분배 계약(PSC)을 체결했다고 전했다. 계약 체결식에는 인도네시아 대통령 프라보워 수비안토와 에너지 및 광물 자원 장관 바힐라 라하달리아가 참석했다.
PSC에 따르면 계약자는 탐사 및 개발의 비용과 위험을 부담하고, 생산물의 출력을 호스트 정부와 공유한다. 각 블록의 면적은 약 8,500 제곱킬로미터로, 서울의 약 14배에 해당한다.
세르팡 블록은 인도네시아에서 가장 유망한 석유 지역 중 하나로 간주되며, 인근 블록에서는 이미 활발한 생산이 이루어지고 있다. 발견되지 않은 석유 자원은 최대 12억 배럴로 추정된다.
SK earthon은 세르팡 블록에서 14%의 지분을 보유하고 있으며, 말레이시아의 국영 기업 페트로나스와 일본의 인펙스는 각각 51%와 35%의 지분을 보유하고 있다.
