LG Uplus has entered into a partnership with AI startup WRTN Technologies to enhance its artificial intelligence services for customers. The telecom provider announced on Thursday that the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to advance LG Uplus’ AI service and improve its usability.
The signing ceremony took place at LG Uplus's headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul. Lee Jae-won, head of LG Uplus's Consumer Division, stated, “Our goal is to make it easier for customers to utilize AI technology in their everyday lives.” He emphasized the company's commitment to collaborating with various partners in the technology sector to introduce innovative AI experiences.
WRTN Technologies, based in Seoul, is a generative AI startup that provides personalized AI chatbots, AI character chat services, and open-source-based AI agent solutions. The company has experienced rapid growth, surpassing 5 million monthly active users in October of the previous year, just two years after launching its chat-based AI service. This growth has outpaced that of other major platform services in Korea, including the banking app Toss.
Through this partnership, LG Uplus and WRTN Technologies plan to enhance their offerings in the AI space, aiming to deliver improved services to their customers.

LG Uplus 소비자 부문을 담당하는 이재원 부장은 “우리의 목표는 고객이 일상생활에서 AI 기술을 더 쉽게 활용할 수 있도록 하는 것”이라고 말했다. “기술 분야의 다양한 파트너와 협력하여 혁신적인 AI 경험을 도입할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
WRTN은 개인화된 AI 챗봇, AI 캐릭터 채팅 서비스 및 오픈 소스 기반 AI 에이전트 솔루션을 제공하는 서울 소재의 생성적 AI 스타트업이다. 이 회사는 작년 10월에 월간 활성 사용자 수 500만 명을 초과하며, 챗 기반 AI 서비스를 런칭한 지 약 2년 만에 엄청난 성장을 이뤘다. 이는 Toss와 같은 한국의 주요 플랫폼 서비스들의 성장률을 초과하는 수치이다.
이번 파트너십을 통해 두 회사는 향후 더 많은 AI 솔루션을 도입할 계획이다.
