Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated on Sunday that he "humbly accepts" his party's decision to reject his presidential candidacy. He committed to supporting the party's chosen candidate, Kim Moon-soo, in the upcoming presidential campaign.
Lee Jung-hyun, a spokesperson for Han, conveyed these remarks during a press briefing held following the People Power Party's (PPP) plenary meeting. The meeting resulted in a vote that maintained Kim as the party's presidential candidate, dismissing a motion to replace him with Han.
Kim, who previously served as a labor minister, secured the party's nomination through the primaries. Despite Han's stronger performance against Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, the party leadership's decision favored Kim.
In his comments, Han expressed hope for Kim’s election success and pledged to contribute in any way possible to ensure that outcome.
