The early voting period spans two days and is in response to the ouster of former President Yoon Suk Yeol due to a failed martial law attempt.
Moon cast his vote at a polling station in Yangsan, located approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul. He emphasized the significance of the election, stating, "I hope the people remember why an early election is taking place." Moon characterized the election as a referendum on the failures of the Yoon Suk Yeol administration, asserting that voters must hold the government accountable.
Meanwhile, Park Geun-hye voted at a polling station in Daegu, about 230 kilometers southeast of Seoul. She acknowledged concerns regarding early voting but highlighted its importance for those unable to vote on the official election day. "For those who can't vote on the day of the election, shouldn't we make it easier for them?" she asked reporters after her vote.
