Coupang reported a record-breaking performance in the first quarter, with sales reaching 11.5 trillion won, according to its filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Based on the average exchange rate for the quarter of 1,452.66 won per dollar, the figure translates to $7.9 billion. Quarterly sales rose 21 percent compared to the same period last year.
The New York Stock Exchange-listed company also recorded earnings of 233.7 billion won during the quarter, marking a 300 percent increase from a year earlier.
This performance followed an increase in the number of active users, which rose by 9 percent to 23.4 million from the previous year’s 21.5 million.
The active users include consumers who utilized the company’s product commerce channels, such as Rocket Delivery and Rocket Fresh, as well as platform sellers who engaged with channels like Rocket Growth and Marketplace.
Product commerce alone posted sales of 10 trillion won in the first quarter, a 16 percent increase from the previous year. Per user, this sector saw sales of 427,000 won, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6 percent.

이번 성과는 한국의 전자상거래 플랫폼 대기업이 활성 사용자 수가 작년 2,150만 명에서 2,340만 명으로 9% 증가한 이후 이루어진 것이다.
사용자에는 Rocket Delivery와 Rocket Fresh와 같은 회사의 제품 상거래 채널을 이용한 소비자와 Rocket Growth 및 Marketplace와 같은 채널을 이용한 플랫폼 판매자가 포함된다.
제품 상거래 부문만으로도 첫 분기 동안 10조 원의 매출을 기록하며 전년 대비 16% 증가하였다.
1인당 매출은 427,000원이었으며, 전년 대비 6% 증가하였다.
