Bang Si-hyuk, chairman of K-pop powerhouse Hybe, appeared for police questioning on Monday for the second time regarding allegations of taking approximately 190 billion won (US$136 million) in unfair profits during the company's listing process.
Bang attended the Seoul Metropolitan Police's office in western Seoul to face questioning as a suspect for potential violations of the Capital Market Act, following an initial questioning last Monday concerning the same allegations.
The latest questioning session lasted 12 hours and 30 minutes.
At around 10:30 p.m., Bang exited the building quickly under the escort of his bodyguards and entered his car, without responding to any questions from reporters.
He is suspected of misleading investors in 2019 by claiming he had no plans for an initial public offering (IPO) for Hybe, while allegedly inducing them to sell their shares to a special purpose company (SPC) linked to him.
Investigations suggest that Hybe was already preparing for the IPO at that time, and police believe Bang profited 190 billion won when the SPC sold its shares following the IPO.
The police investigation began late last year, with a search of the Korea Exchange in June to seize documents related to Hybe's listing, followed by a raid on Hybe's headquarters the subsequent month.

방 의장은 서초구 서울지방경찰청에 도착해 자본시장법 위반 혐의로 피의자 신분으로 조사를 받았다. 그는 지난 월요일 처음으로 조사를 받은 바 있다.
조사는 12시간 30분간 진행되었다.
밤 10시 30분경 방 의장은 경호원들의 호위를 받으며 건물을 빠져나와 자신의 차량에 탑승했다. 그는 기자들의 질문에 응답하지 않았다.
방 의장은 2019년에 하이브의 상장 계획이 없다고 투자자들을 속인 후, 그들에게 자신이 연관된 사모펀드가 설립한 특별목적회사(SPC)에 주식을 매도하도록 유도한 혐의를 받고 있다.
하이브는 그 당시 이미 상장을 준비하고 있었던 것으로 의심되며, 경찰은 방 의장이 상장이 진행된 후 SPC가 하이브의 주식을 판매하면서 190억 원을 챙겼다고 보고 있다.
경찰은 지난해 말부터 본 사건을 조사하기 시작했으며, 지난 6월 하이브 상장 관련 문서를 압수하기 위해 한국거래소를 압수수색했고, 다음 달에는 하이브 본사를 압수수색하였다.
