Two construction equipment affiliates of HD Hyundai — HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and HD Hyundai Infracore — are planning to merge to create South Korea's largest construction machinery company next year, as announced by the companies on Tuesday.
HD Hyundai Infracore stated that its shareholders approved the merger plan during an extraordinary general meeting held earlier in the day. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is also expected to approve the consolidation at its upcoming shareholders' meeting.
The new entity, to be named HD Construction Equipment, is set to launch on January 1, following the completion of necessary follow-up steps.
The two companies initially disclosed their merger plan in July, highlighting the need to secure future technologies and enhance cost competitiveness in light of global economic uncertainty and increasing competition.
The merged entity aims to achieve annual sales of 14.8 trillion won (approximately $10.7 billion) by 2030, strengthening its position in the global market.

두 회사는 글로벌 경제의 불확실성과 치열한 경쟁 속에서 통합을 통해 미래 기술과 비용 경쟁력을 확보할 필요가 있다고 7월에 합병 계획을 처음 발표했다.
합병된 회사는 2030년까지 연간 매출 14.8조 원(107억 달러)에 도달하고 글로벌 시장에서의 입지를 강화하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
