Former first lady Kim Keon Hee and a shaman associated with her appeared before a special counsel team on Monday to face questioning regarding corruption allegations.
Kim, the spouse of ousted former President Yoon Suk Yeol, was transported to the special counsel's office in a prison van from a detention center where she has been held since August 13.
The allegations against Kim include involvement in stock manipulation schemes, interference in candidate nominations for the 2022 parliamentary by-elections and the 2024 general elections, and the acceptance of luxury gifts from the Unification Church via the shaman in exchange for business favors.
The shaman, Jeon Seong-bae, was arrested last week and was also brought in for questioning on the same day. This marks Jeon’s first questioning since his arrest and Kim’s fourth since hers; however, she has reportedly chosen to remain silent during most previous sessions.
The special counsel team has previously extended Kim's detention until August 31 and is expected to file charges against her before that deadline.

무속인 전성배는 지난주에 체포되어 같은 날 조사를 받기 위해 연행되었다. 이번 조사는 전 씨의 체포 이후 첫 번째이며, 김 여사는 체포 이후 네 번째 조사를 받았다. 그러나 전 여사는 이전 대부분의 조사에서 침묵할 권리를 행사한 것으로 보인다.
특별검사팀은 그녀의 구금을 한 차례 연장하여 8월 31일까지로 하고 있으며, 이 기간이 끝나기 전에 그녀에 대한 기소를 목표로 하고 있다.
