U.S. hardcore punk band Bootcamp is currently touring East Asia, with upcoming performances in Japan and two shows scheduled in Korea this weekend.
Three of the four band members identify as female and have expressed a desire to serve as role models for women in the punk scene while advancing discussions on gender issues. In a statement, they emphasized, "In 2025 the tokenism of fem people in hardcore does absolutely nothing for the scene as a whole." They aim for their music to be appreciated for its artistic value and message rather than for their gender.
Despite their aspirations, the band members noted that gender-based discrimination persists in society, including within the underground music community. They stated, "A dynamic still exists where we are not perceived as tough or edgy enough, even though a band of all dudes easily gets perceived in that way." Additionally, they shared their experiences of discomfort caused by male audience members, indicating that such issues remain prevalent.
Bootcamp formed in the spring and continues to challenge the perceptions and treatment of female musicians in the hardcore punk genre.

이들은 "2025년까지 하드코어 씬에서 여성의 토큰주의는 전혀 도움이 되지 않는다"며, "우리의 음악을 좋아하고 우리가 말하는 것에 관심을 가져주는 사람들과 소통하고 싶다"고 주장했다.
또한, 이들은 사회가 언더그라운드 음악에서도 성차별을 극복하지 못했다고 인정하며, "여성이 힘이나 에지감이 부족하다고 여겨지는 상황이 여전히 존재한다"고 말했다.
이들은 "남자들이 여성 공연자에게 이상하게 행동하는 것이 사라진 것으로 여겨지지만, 우리는 안타깝게도 그런 경험을 자주 한다"고 덧붙였다.
부트캠프는 한국에 뿌리를 두고 있다.
