Korea's industry ministry announced the establishment of a private-public consultative body aimed at enhancing technological partnerships between the military and the private sector. The inaugural meeting was held in Seoul, attended by officials from the military, academia, and domestic defense companies, according to a press release from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
During the meeting, participants discussed future cooperation plans, which included sharing information on technology trends and facilitating technology transfers between the military and private entities. The body also committed to efforts aimed at localizing the production of essential defense materials, components, and equipment by supporting research and development initiatives.
The formation of this consultative body comes as Korea aims to stabilize supply chains within the defense sector, particularly in light of increasing export controls on advanced strategic weapons systems.

이번 협의체 출범은 전략적 무기 시스템에 대한 수출 통제가 강화되는 가운데 방산 부문의 공급망을 안정화하기 위한 한국의 노력의 일환으로 이루어졌다.
