Three Korean films are set to have their world premieres at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), as announced by the festival's organizers. The films, "The Ugly," "Project Y," and "Good News," will be screened in the Special Presentations section of the 50th edition of the festival, scheduled for September 4-14.
"The Ugly," directed by Yeon Sang-ho, who is known for "Parasyte," is a mystery thriller based on his 2018 graphic novel. The film follows Young-gyu, a blind master of traditional seal engraving, and his son Dong-hwan as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Young-gyu's wife.
The crime drama "Project Y," featuring Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo, tells the story of two women who resort to stealing dirty money and gold bars to escape their dire situations.
"Good News," a Netflix original film directed by Byun Sung-hyun, is a tense thriller that stars Sul Kyung-gu and Hong Kyung. The plot revolves around a covert operation to safely land a hijacked plane in the 1970s.
The Special Presentations section of the TIFF is recognized for showcasing outstanding content from around the world.

범죄 드라마 "프로젝트 Y"는 한소희와 전종서가 출연하여 두 여성이 불법 자금을 훔치고 금괴를 강탈하여 비참한 환경에서 탈출하려는 이야기를 그린다.
넷플릭스 오리지널 영화 "굿뉴스"는 1970년대의 납치된 비행기를 착륙시키기 위한 비밀 작전을 중심으로 한 긴장감 넘치는 스릴러로, 설경구와 홍경이 출연한다.
