Police announced on Friday the seizure of cellphones belonging to former President Yoon Suk Yeol, marking a significant development in their investigation into allegations surrounding a martial law bid in December. This includes both a secure phone and a work phone utilized by Yoon.
The police's special investigation unit also obtained phone server records from the Presidential Security Service (PSS). This action is part of an inquiry into claims that Yoon, alongside former PSS chief Park Chong-jun and PSS Deputy Chief Kim Seong-hoon, obstructed investigators from executing a detention warrant against Yoon in January.
In a related effort, the police and the PSS had previously conducted a three-week joint forensic analysis of the server, successfully restoring most of its records. The PSS voluntarily submitted the material to law enforcement after its own review.
Reportedly, the server holds call records and text messages exchanged between Yoon and PSS Deputy Chief Kim, as well as communications with other PSS officials.

경찰 특별수사본부는 조사 과정에서 윤 전 대통령이 사용한 보안 전화와 업무 전화를 압수했으며, PSS에서 사용한 보안 전화 서버의 기록을 확보했다고 밝혔다. 이는 윤 전 대통령과 전 PSS 수장 박종준, PSS 부수장 김성훈이 1월에 윤 전 대통령의 구속영장 집행을 저지했다는 혐의에 대한 수사의 일환이다.
경찰과 PSS는 앞서 3주간 합동 포렌식 분석을 실시하여 서버의 대부분 기록을 복원했다. PSS는 자율적으로 경찰에 자료를 제출하였다.
서버에는 윤 전 대통령과 PSS 부수장 김 그리고 다른 PSS 관계자 간의 통화 기록 및 문자 메시지가 포함되어 있는 것으로 전해졌다.
